When you wish to experience the wonders of the underwater world and you are seriously in search of the purest habitat that can be found on the planet, most likely you will end up in the Eastern part of the Indonesian archipelago. Indonesia consists more than 17,000 islands and becomes the largest archipelago in the world with at least 80,000 kilometers of coastline. Invertebrates proliferate throughout the hundreds of patch reefs, sheer walls and barriers reefs colourful nudi branch, pipe fishes and seahorses roam amongst the chrynoids, gorgonias and soft corals, a whole rainbow hue covering the entire extension of the reef walls. Big fish pop up every now and then, offering superb sights of big tunas, shoal or barracudas, manta rays and sharks galore.

All Star Aurora

All Star Aurora is a 132 foot Pinisi-styled teak motor-sail dive liveaboard that combines tradition with comfort and modern conveniences. Cocotinos Lembeh – North Sulawesi

Cocotinos Lembeh, A Boutique Dive Lodge, faces a quaint little island where lively village children dive and swim, and while relaxing in their restaurant and bar, you can enjoy a cocktail with sweeping views across the sea towards the stunning lime stone hills of the Lembeh Strait. Cocotinos Lembeh is 50 km from Sam Ratulangi International airport and it takes between 1.5 to 2 hours to get there by car. The Tangkoko National Park, where one can see tarsiers, black macaques and “cuscus” (brown sloths), is merely an hour’s drive from the lodge. The Lembeh Strait is very popular for muck diving, and fronting the lodge are some of the most popular dive sites, namely Makawidey, Jahir and Nudi Retreat. The dive center is fully equipped, nitrox is on offer and well-designed fiberglass dive boats make diving safe and fun.

Dive Into Lembeh – North Sulawesi

With only nine sea view bungalows, Dive Into Lembeh is nestled in Kasawari Bay, located on the mainland of the Lembeh Strait, Indonesia – a true macro photographer’s paradise! Every bungalow, at Dive Into Lembeh, has its own Japanese “Onsen” (hot tub minus the bubbles) on the veranda, to warm up in at the end of your diving day. With access, right out front of the resort, of the two most famous dive sites, in Lembeh, (Hairball and Aw Shucks) finding critters, such as hairy frog fish, mimic octopus, blue ringed octopus, mandarin fish, mantis shrimps and many others, that are hiding on the black volcanic sand, amongst patches of rubble and coral much more exciting!

Built in 2001 Siladen Resort & Spa is an exclusive boutique dive resort located on Pulau Siladen, a lush tropical island in the heart of the Bunaken National Marine Park, a protected ocean area known worldwide for the richness of its waters and epicentre of global marine biodiversity. The property is located on the western side of the island on a 300 meters long stretch of white coral reef beach facing the Manado Tua volcano. Located in the heart of Bunaken National Marine Park, they have easy access to over 50 world class dive sites, of which, more than half are also excellent snorkelling sites. Surrounding the 5 islands of Bunaken Marine Park are shallow reefs which make for excellent and varied snorkelling, before the water dramatically plummets deeper. Most sites surrounding the islands are either vertical walls or steep slopes, although there are a few exceptions. The sites along the North Sulawesi mainland are mostly dark sandy slopes mixed with healthy and vibrant coral reefs, and there are some fantastic shallow reefs for snorkellers too. A World War II era shipwreck is also available for experienced divers.
